This is a very special fiddle.

Originally made in 1761 by Jean-Baptiste LeMarquis (Not a later trade fiddle bearing the same name) but modernised in the late 19th Century by adding deeper ribs & extending the neck heel to suit. This was likely to have been done in one of the notable Miracor workshops as the standard of work is very high and the depth is very similar to Miracor fiddles of the late 1890's.

It does have a historic pin repair in the neck heel which is visible and would benefit from a cap if the buyer wants to hide it.

It has boxwood bushes in the peg holes to accommodate the rosewood pegs which hold tune very well.

It has a warm, rich tone & is surprisingly loud.

This would make a first class folk or bluegrass fiddle.

Comes with an Eastman fibreglass "rocket" hard case & German trade bow.

Inspection & playing recommended in store.
